By encouraging and supporting a return to education or work, the Leaps & Bounds programme offers an alternative route to educational achievement resulting in qualifications such as a BTEC in Performing Arts, Youth Arts Award, Modern Apprenticeship Award and Millennium Volunteers Award.
Here are some of their reflections on their involvement, in their own words:
"I was dossing the streets and wasting valuable time that I could off been spending with my family or on school work"
"I now know that with time I can do anything I put my mind to, I've also developed a lot in my acting and I now have a lot of patience and know how to apologise if I'm wrong"
"My confidence was low, I was not doing well in education and had no career prospects. Now I can achieve anything I put my mind to, I can be whoever I want to be and have the confidence to show my abilities!"
"I didn't have no confidence and didn't always go to school. Now I have got more confidence, have more self respect and always go to school. "
"Since joining Leaps & Bounds I have more Self respect, a better attitude, have lost weight and cut down on smoking.I have learnt that I can do anything I can put my mind to and I can be everthing that I say I am!!"
"I was getting into fights , and getting into trouble with the police, now I am doing well at my college course plus I have got into the National Youth Theatre and my attidide towards my parents is getting better."
"Before Joining Leaps & Bounds, I was not doing well in Education and did not have much confidence. I also used to doss the streets and binge drink"
"Whilst being part of Wrosne, I have learnt that I can do what ever I want to do when I put my mind to oit , and not stop till I reach it!"
"Before starting Leaps & Bounds I wasn't doing good for myself such as being cheeky with tutors, not willing to learn, not getting along with my family and didn't have any respect, I felt I was a quiter."
"Now I feel more positive about myself!"
