A Leaps & Bounds project typically lasts between 12 and 18 months using a combination of three ingredients to generate extraordinary changes in the lives of these young people; personal intervention, involvement of the highest quality in the arts or sports and ongoing one-to-one pastoral support.

The first project we got involved with was Ballet Hoo! which was led by Dudley Council, in partnership with Birmingham Royal Ballet, Diverse Productions, Channel 4 and Arts Council England. It culminated in a performance of Romeo and Juliet at the Birmingham Hippodrome in September 2006.

Such was the positive transformation in the lives of the scores of at risk young people in Ballet Hoo! the decision was made to continue the work of Leaps & Bounds providing similar opportunities for more young people in the Black Country.

In May 2007 the Wrosne project started, working with 60 young people over the course of 18 months from two estates in Dudley which face exceptional levels of economic and social deprivation.

Chasing Fate is our third project working with 80 young people from Dudley, Sandwell, Telford and Wrekin and Walsall. Working with professionals from the West End they created a new piece of musical theatre performed at Birmingham Hippodrome.

All the young people on a Leaps & Bounds project benefit in enormous ways and continue to make extraordinary changes to the way they lead their lives. Building on these successes we continue to develop more projects to ensure we can help Inspire Change amongst more young people.

Since delivering these projects, Leaps and Bounds has also developed shorter term projects generally lasting between 9 to12 months. These projects work with young people who are  experiencing challenging times in their lives, helping them to realise their full potential and what they can achieve in life.
